Scott Waldrop

Scott Waldrop
Scott Waldrop was born in Evanston, Illinois on May 23, 1989, though he has lived most of his life in Cincinnati. As a Chicago native he is a die hard Chicago Cubs fan and says he will be until the day he dies. He is also a die hard Anaheim Ducks fan. While Scott’s favorite sport is hockey, he also enjoys baseball and college football. He has played baseball since the age of seven, although he no longer plays. Scott attended Princeton High School in Cincinnati and graduated in June of 2007. He began attending the University of Cincinnati in September of 2007 majoring in Electronic Media. He joined Bearcast radio in the fall of 2007 and began announcing UC sports such as soccer, basketball, and baseball. He is serving as the Training Director for Bearcast for the 2009-2010 school year. He started co-hosting 5 Minute Major in 2008 and hopes to keep it going until graduation. In the fall of 2009 he began announcing games for GoBearcats.com and is enjoying that experience.
Scott first became interested in hockey at age 11 when he began attending Cincinnati Mighty Ducks games with his father at the Cincinnati Gardens. He began to learn every detail of the game straight from the players and coaches. By time time the Mighty Ducks left Cincinnati in 2005, Scott had developed quite a memorabilia collection that includes autographed pictures, pucks, sticks, and skates. Scott has met many players from the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks that have gone on to have success in the nhl including: Chris Kunitz, Sam Pahlsson, Mike Commodore, Joffrey Lupul, Ilya Bryzgalov, Ryan Getzlaf, Jean-Sebastian Giguere, Andy McDonald, Shane O’Brien, and Corey Perry. Scott is glad he got the chance to meet and interact with these players while they were in Cincinnati paying their dues in the minor leagues. Because of these moments, Scott’s favorite hockey team is the Anaheim Ducks.
Scott has no clue where his future will take him. He would like to become a play-by-play announcer or a sports talk show host. He would like to work in either Chicago, Illinois or Phoenix, Arizona. Scott says while Chicago and Phoenix are his two favorite cities he wants to move out west somewhere after graduation. Until graduation Scott will continue to be heard on Bearcast as well as GoBearcats.com and of course continue co-hosting the 5 Minute Major, The greatest hockey show in Ohio!
